So school is over for summer. Only two semesters left until I am officially an engineer. My past two summers have started fast with my internships beginning the first business day after finals. Unfortunately, as I am sure it is for a lot of you, this summer is off to a much different start. Coronavirus has changed the very fabric of society. Almost all my closest friends have lost their internships for the summer and so have I. Thankfully, all my friends and family are safe and healthy, and hopefully the same can be said for you.
The question now is how am I going to spend my summer? What is the best way to prepare myself for the full-time job search next year? This will be my mission for the next few months, and I hope that you will be joining me on this adventure.
Before we get started on the journey, I thought I would share a little bit about myself. I am a senior at Michigan State University. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering. My goal is to be able to find a full-time engineering job close to home in the Metro-Detroit area. Over the coming months I will be documenting my full-time job search with hopes of finding the perfect position. In addition, I hope that I can help you, my fellow Spartans, have the job of your dreams lined up after graduation.
I created this site with the hopes of creating a strong collective job search effort. I don’t think any of us were hoping to enter the job market with the economy in this condition, but we got this. Over the next few months I will be posting a variety of resources in addition to my blog posts. Stay tuned for important networking events, tips from industry professionals, and even interviews with recent Spartan Graduates! These next few months are going to be quite the journey, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
